Checking Hearing Aids
Simple checks to do at home

Encourage children to do some of this themselves.

What to look for...
	The mould is clean and has no cracks.
	The tube is clear and flexible. There is no water in it.
	No cracks in the case
	No loose switches
What to listen for...
	The battery is working (the hearing aid whistles when it is not being worn!)
	The sound (through a special device called a stetoclip) is clear and not distorted
	No whistles when the hearing aid is in the ear
