Thomas Edison was American.  He was born in 1847.  Thomas Edison was deaf.

Thomas worked on trains when he was 12 years old.  He was the first person to make and sell newspapers on trains.


In 1876 he set up a workshop.  Here he worked on his inventions.  

Thomas Edison made the first light bulb.  He also invented the phonograph.  A phonograph can record sound.

Thomas Edison died in 1931.  He had made 1033 inventions.
