Head's Log

We can find out how many children were at the school from the Head Masters' Log.

31.1.10 The number of pupils on the books at the beginning of the new term is 49 boys and 43 girls, of whom 47 boys and 41 girls are present today.  The teaching staff remains at eleven - three men and eight women, all "recognised" under the new regulations.
1.2.12 The number of pupils on the Register at the beginning of the term is 82...
2.5.14 ...number of pupils on the books 86; number of teachers..eight...
1918. Jan 14 School reassembled.  Number of pupils on Register 71; number of teachers 8, + 3 part time teachers.
Sep 1 (1919) School re-opened after six weeks holiday.  Four boys and 1 girl left during the holidays and one girl...died at home.  number remaining on Register - 43 boys and 27 girls, total 70.  Two new pupils were admitted today a boy & a girl.  The boy...is on special probation, being suspected of mental deficiency.  The nine teachers on the staff at the end of last term resumed duty today...
