The Golden Hind was one of
Francis Drake's ships.
He sailed round the
world from 1577 to 1580.
The Golden Hind was 75 feet
long and 20 feet wide.
The men had to live in the
boat. It was small. They slept on the floor.
They ate pork, beef, cheese,
dry fish and biscuits. There was no fruit. Many
men became ill and died.
