The Tudors

Elizabeth I
Elizabeth I

1558 - 1603

Elizabeth I was Henry VIII's daughter.  Her mother was Anne Boleyn.  She became queen after Mary I.

Elizabeth was a protestant.  She brought back the Church of England again.

Elizabeth did not marry.

Elizabeth had a cousin called Mary Queen of Scots.  Mary was Catholic.  Mary wanted to be queen of England.  Elizabeth beheaded Mary.  This made King Philip II of Spain angry.

Spain was Catholic.  In 1585 Spain and England went to war.  Spain sent lots of boats to England. They were called the Spanish Armada.  England's boats won.

Elizabeth I died in 1603.  She was the last Tudor.
