People whose combined sight and hearing impairment cause difficulties with communication, access to information and mobility can be regarded as deafblind/MultiSensory Impaired (Department of Health).  They have varying degrees of visual and hearing impairment, perhaps combined with learning and physical disabilities (Department of Education, 1989).
