Buddhist people and prayer

Buddhists may ring a bell
  • at the start of prayer
  • in time with chants and mantras (like songs)
Buddhists put gifts in the shrine.  This may be water, rice, flowers, fruit, and money. They may burn incense too.
Some Buddhists use a prayer wheel.  It has writing inside.  Buddhists turn the wheel.  They believe this 'lets out' the writing in to the world.
