Hindu prayer

A puja tray Hindu people pray everyday.  This is called puja.
  • A prayer (or mantra) - saying the word Om
  • Saying mantras from holy writings
  • Giving gifts (sweets, money, flowers, fruit, food) to god

This Shrine is in a home. It has pictures of the Gods.
Thank you to B Patel

Most Hindus pray at home. Hindus have a shrine in their house.  This is a place with pictures and statues.

Hindu people also pray in the temple.

A diva is a small lamp They light divas (lamps) and candles.  They may burn incense.  The sweet smell goes everywhere.  This is like God as God is everywhere.
They may ring a bell.  This tells God they are there and stops people hearing other sounds.
