Avocet

An Avocet

This is an Avocet.  Avocets live by a river estuary.  They walk into the water or mud to look for food.  They eat crustaceans, insects and molluscs (shellfish).

Avocets live in Europe but many go to Africa in winter.

Avocets make a nest for their eggs on mud or sand.
