Daffodils
Do not pick wild flowers in woods or fields.  These flowers were in a garden.

a daffodil bud

This is a bud

When it opens it will be a flower.

This plant is called a daffodil.

the stem helps the daffodil flower stand up

The stem helps the plant stand up.

daffodil roots

The roots take up water from the soil. They help the plant stand up too.

daffodil leaves are tall and thin

Leaves make food for the plant.

Leaves need sunlight, air and water to make food for the plant.  This is called photosynthesis.

The stem takes water and food to the flowers and leaves.

a daffodil flower

This is a flower.  Flowers are made of petals.

The bright colour attracts insects like bees.

Insects eat the nectar inside the flower.

daffodil stamen

These are called Stamen.  They make pollen.  Insects or the wind take the pollen to a different flower.

The pollen sticks to the stigma.  This is called pollination.

daffodils make seeds

All plants have seeds.

The seeds are below the petals.

When the flower dies the seeds are left.  The seeds will grow into a new plant.
