Dandelions
Do not pick wild flowers in woods or fields.  These flowers were in a garden.

This flower is called a dandelion.  

This is a bud.

The flowers are on the stem. The stem helps the plant stand up.  The stem takes the food and water to the flowers.

Leaves make food for the plant.  

Leaves need sunlight, air and water to make food for the plant.  This is called photosynthesis.

The roots are underground.  They take up water from the soil. They help the plant stand up too.

This is the flower.  Flowers are made of petals.

The stamen are long and thin.  They make pollen.

All plants have seeds.  

The petals die and fall off.

The brown seeds are left.

the white part help the dandelion seeds blow away

Dandelions use the wind to blow the seeds away.  Each brown seed has a parachute.
